"Catch the Wind"
marks the first release by Donovan. The single reached #4 in the United
Kingdom and #23 in the United States.
The
single version featured Donovan's vocals with echo and a string
section. The song was recorded again for Donovan's first album
What's
Bin Did and What's Bin Hid without the vocal echo and strings.
"Colours"
Donovan followed up the success of "Catch the Wind"
with "
Colours",
which featured a similar folk style. The single matched
the success of "Catch the Wind" in the United Kingdom, reaching #4 on
the charts. In the United States, "Colours" reached #61 and marked a
decline in popularity from "Catch the Wind". A different mix of the
song (without harmonica) was released on his second album
Fairytale.
"Jennifer Juniper" is a song and
single by Donovan, released in 1968. It charted in the UK and USA. It
was written about Jennifer Boyd, sister of Pattie. She married Mick
Fleetwood and was, at one time, the sister-in-law of George Harrison
and, later, Eric Clapton.
"
Sunshine Superman"
reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, and
subsequently became the title track of Donovan's third album,
Sunshine
Superman. A different mix of "The Trip" (without harmonica)
is also included in the album. It was the first product from the highly
successful three-year collaboration between Donovan and producer Mickie
Most and is generally considered to be one of the first examples of the
musical genre that came to be known as psychedelia.
"There is a Mountain" is
